The Emerald Coast Model Aviators was formed in the late 1980's as Chapter 270 of the International Miniature Aircraft Association (IMAA) and later chartered with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) as chapter 3028.
PURPOSE
As stated in our constitution, our purpose is to "stimulate and foster interest in the building and safe flying of miniature aircraft for the enjoyment of the hobby and to promote a fraternal spirit of recreation and sportsmanship".
INSTRUCTOR PILOTS
If you are new to radio-controlled model airplanes, we highly recommend that you seek out an instructor pilot to help you until you are ready to fly solo. We will be glad to help you select a plane and follow through with instructions using a "buddy box".
FIELD
The flying field for this organization is located on Parker Farm in Wewahitchka, Fl, situated on Rt. 22A, 1/4 mile north of Hwy 22.
MEETINGS
The club meets on the third Monday of each month at Larry's BBQ, in Callaway, Fl. at 7:00pm. Usually we show up early, and eat. Meetings are informal, and we encourage you to attend.
AIR SHOW
Each year, in the fall (normally Columbus Day weekend), we put on an air show to benifit a local charity. For the past several years we have selected Taunton's Family Childrens Home in Wewahitchka as our charity. The air show brings in pilots from all over the southeast who have both scale and aerobatic airplanes. There is a combat competition at noon each day.
